A frying pan burst into flame after a housewife forgot to turn off the stove - risking burning her house down with a cooking fail.

The skillet, still filled with oil, was left on top of the fire as the woman turned her back and left to do other chores in her home in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand on June 10.

Footage shows how tongues of flame rose up from the cookware, scorching the kitchen's ceiling and walls after the pan was left unattended for around 20 minutes.

Orapin, a relative of the housewife, said: 'We weren't at home at the time. She was there cooking for her kids while waiting for her husband to return home.

'She went to the bedroom to listen to some music, and the next thing she knows, her husband is already calling her because of the burning pan.'

Luckily, the fire died down on its own when the oil was completely spent following the cooking fail.
