A brave snake catcher snared a massive python curled up in the corner of a family's room after it ate their two pet cats.

The animal rescue team was called after shocked residents spotted the 13ft-long creature slithering through their home in Ang Thong province, Thailand on July 3.

Three volunteers searched for the serpent until they found it hiding under a pile of boxes in the pet room with a bulging stomach.

Footage shows female reptile specialist Ratha Thapianthong carefully hooking the snake's neck before grabbing it with bare hands.

House owner Renu Klaimalee, 51, said: ‘I had been looking for my cats. I know they slept in that room. When I saw the snake earlier that day, I had a feeling that it ate my pets.

Rescuers confirmed that the snake had a large meal before being caught due to its bulging stomach which they believe was the pet cats.

The devastated house owner thanked the rescuers for coming before the team left the property with the snake to release it into the wild.

Thailand is home to three species of python, one of which is the reticulated python considered to be the longest snake in the world. In 2021, a farmer in Chon Buri province came across a massive 20ft-long python that required eight rescuers to pull from the fields.
