A furious husband grappled with a Buddhist monk who was allegedly trying to seduce his wife in Thailand.

The husband was working in his grocery store with his wife Niracha Boonsit, 39, when a 'flirty' monk entered their shop in Nakhon Nayok province, Thailand on June 28.

While checking out at the cashier, monk Luang Pee Wang Tang allegedly pointed at his wife's apron with a Coke logo and said ‘he wanted to drink that for free' which infuriated the husband.

CCTV footage shows the protective husband and the rude monk wrestling each other against the grocery store's shelves.

Wife Niracha said: ‘While I was working, the rude monk tossed money at me. I asked him what his problem was but he seduced me. He pointed at my Coke apron while smiling and told me that he would like to drink it for free. He was flirting, but being too lecherous.

‘My husband heard what he said and was very angry at the monk. They fought right in front of me.'

The husband and the monk were restrained by the frantic wife and their worker. Both men were injured but the husband reportedly lost a tooth, wounded mouth, and injured nose.

After the incident, the monk returned to the temple while the couple reported the incident to the police. Some of the angry villagers who heard about the incident gathered outside the temple to condemn the monk's inappropriate behaviour.

Other women in the village also reported having encounters with the rude monk which eventually led to the head monk's decision of excommunicating Luang Pee Wang Tang.

Investigations with the local abbot and officer are ongoing but Luang Pee Wang Tang has already been banished from the temple.

Buddhism is the official religion in Thailand which is practised by more than 95 per cent of the population. The religion is also widely practised in neighbouring countries Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
