A huge wild monitor lizard rampaged through a family's kitchen in Thailand.

The Godzilla-like creature was found by homeowner Sriamphron Saikaet clambering on the railings of her kitchen in Saraburi province on July 1.

The beast left a mess of pots and pans on the floor as it struggled to find a way out. In panic, Sriamphon fled from her house and called animal control to evacuate the monitor lizard inside.

When the rescuers arrived, they dragged the massive reptile down using a catching pole. However, it broke loose and slipped back into the kitchen since the rope they used was too loose.

The second time they caught it, they covered its face with cloth to prevent it from escaping again.

Sriamphron said: ‘This monitor lizard is the biggest I've ever seen. It might even be as big as a crocodile.'

The reptile was safely removed from her residence and was later released into the wild.
