Hundreds of protesters marched through central Chicago on Wednesday (July 6) to voice their anger at the fatal shooting by police of 25-year-old Jayland Walker.

Walker was unarmed at the time he was killed in Akron, Ohio on June 27.

A gun was found in Walker's vehicle after the shooting, police said, and officers said Walker fired a gun from his vehicle during the car chase.

Jayland Walker was killed in a burst of gunfire early on June 27th, after a vehicle pursuit and foot chase that started when officers tried to stop him for traffic violations. A medical examiner’s report found Walker suffered at least 60 wounds as a result of the gunfire.

Today, July 6th, 2022, protesters in Chicago marched through the streets of Chicago, with the famous Chicago Theater as a backdrop, to voice their disapproval of the Akron, Ohio Police actions that killed Jayland Walker. US Department of Justice is now investigating this shooting.
