This is the shocking moment a massive cargo ship crashes into a small wooden fishing boat in Indonesia.

The trawler was being pulled to the nearest port after its engine broke in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province on July 5.

However, while being towed, a larger KMN Harapan Baru cargo ship failed to see the hazard and crashed into the boat.

The fishing boat was severely-damaged due to the impact sending its 15 crew to jump into the sea who were all later saved.

South Sulawesi Regional Police Commissioner Komang Suartana said in a statement on July 6: ‘The fishing boat was being pulled by another boat when it was hit by the KMN Harapan Baru off the waters of Tanakeke Island.

‘The fishing boat nearly split apart. All the crew jumped into the sea to save themselves.'

The crew were immediately rescued into the cargo ship following the collision.

Commissioner Suartana added: ‘They were then successfully evacuated to the cargo ship. All 15 crew members were safe.'

Meanwhile, the cargo ship company said it will compensate the owner of the boat that was hit for damages.
