Heavy floods swamped villagers' homes following tropical storms in Myanmar's Shan State.

Video shows the muddy water gushing through the township of Hsipaw on July 4 after days of continuous rain. A nearby stream swelled and overflowed into an adjacent community with mostly wooden houses.

The town is located on the banks of the Duthawadi River, making it prone to flooding during the rainy season. Locals said they are worried about the rising water level if the storms do not abate.

Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
