Close-up footage shows rare Sand Martins feed their fledglings on a Welsh beach

On the Welsh island of Anglesey, a colony of rare Sand Martin birds are feeding their young fledglings, which are visible as they squawk and poke their heads out of their nesting holes.

The cute youngsters spend the afternoon being fed insects their parents have found on the adjacent beach and meadows. The migratory birds return to their Welsh roost each summer to breed, arriving around two or three months ago after spending the winter in Africa.

Some are almost ready to emerge from their nesting holes for the first time and are visible perched at the opening throughout.

From 14 seconds, some rambunctious fledglings vie for position as their parent arrives with food, and can be heard squealing as one emerges and opens its beak wide to claim its afternoon snack.
