Woman evacuated after being diagnosed with high-blood pressure during pilgrimage in northern India
A woman, who got diagnosed with high-blood pressure during a pilgrimage, was evacuated by the army in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident happened near Sangam base at the Amarnath shrine on June 30.
The woman, identified as Sujata, hails from Mumbai. She had a blood pressure of 182/96 and was evacuated by the army at Sangam base, after her family called for help.
Visuals show the army jawans hurriedly carrying the 49-year-old down a hilly road. She had an exhausted and sickly look on her face. Later, she was given proper treatment at the army base.
Medical facilities on both routes to the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage were established by the Chinar Corps, according to the Indian army. Chinar Corps are responsible for military operations in Kashmir valley.
Over 150 medical and para-medical staff with life-saving equipment, ambulances and quick reaction teams were deployed on these routes, to provide help for pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra.
