At least 12 baby cobra snakes were rescued from a household in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened at the Nagarda Kurda village in the Janjgir-Champa district on July 2.

Visuals showed one tiny snake sneak out of a dug up wall with rescuers trying to capture it. They dug up the whole wall to bring out the reptiles, after which they were put inside of a plastic container.

It was learnt that these snakes started emerging in the house of a man named Brihaspati Kanwar. These little reptiles struck fear into the hearts of the members in the family, following which they stopped entering the room from where they came out.

The family members, out of fear, have been killing these baby snakes as soon as they emerged. But even when these creatures didn't stop emerging from the room, the family contacted the snake rescue team of the forest department. A team led by Jitendra Sarathi was deployed for this work and they reached the spot after a while with the distance being over 52 kms (32.31 miles).

They swung into action as soon as they reached the spot. The rescue team opened up the locked room, had all the families' belongings shifted before beginning the operation.

The wall, from which the snakes were emerging, was dug up. And it was found that these reptiles came out from under it. Rescue officials carefully took out one snake at a time and put them inside a plastic container, with a lid on top. Locals from the village had gathered at the spot to watch the rescue operation take place as these baby reptiles were taken out from under the wall.

The rescue team did try to trace the mother snake but failed to do so. It was learnt that she might have laid the egg and went away from the spot.

Much to the relief of the family, all the baby snakes were brought out in the rescue operation which took around seven-eight hours to be completed. The villagers also applauded the work of Sarathi and his team.
