A python was rescued after it had consumed reportedly half-a-dozen chicks in a poultry farm in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident took place on July 7 at the Gokul Nagar poultry farm in the Korba district.

Visuals showed the poultry farm where python was being taken out in an operation led by snake-catcher Jitendra Sarathi. It had coiled up and was hiding in a small hole inside the poultry farm.

Sarathi was seen carefully pulling the reptile, which had a bulged-up belly because of devouring so many chicks.

It slowly swirled around the ground after being taken out. Later it was learnt that it was released.

According to information received, the poultry farm belonged to a man named Devendra Sharma.

He found the fat snake in his farm and it didn't take him long to realize why its belly was bulged up. But instead of killing it, Sharma called up the snake rescue team to save the reptile.

Sarathi's team, who were conducting another rescue operation at that time, reached after a while and saved the reptile.

Korba district is known for snakes entering houses, especially in rainy seasons.
