French tourist, 22, killed in motorcycle crash that left him with cracked skull in Thailand
A French tourist was killed in a horror motorcycle crash that cracked his skull in Thailand.
Anthony Lefrere, 22, from Ermont, Paris, was speeding towards a bridge when he lost control and crashed onto a pavement outside a university in Samut Prakan province, on July 7.
The tourist was checked by rescuers but confirmed dead with a severe skull injury, despite wearing a full-face helmet.
Anthony was taken to Ramathibodi Hospital for a post-mortem examination while police informed the French Embassy.
Bangbo Police Station Captain Paradorn Pengkot said: ‘After the inspection, we found skid marks on the street which was about 50 metres away from the bridge. We have coordinated this with the embassy.'
The university security guard claimed the French man was speeding onto the bridge but crashed on a nearby footpath.
He said: 'He was rapidly riding his motorcycle heading to the bridge and later crashed into a footpath nearby. I think he was not familiar with this area.'
The tourist had only been staying in Thailand for three months prior to the incident.
Police also recovered his GPX motorcycle on the scene.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing while the embassy is contacting the young tourist's relatives in France.
