Indonesian police use STEAMROLLER to destroy thousands of unlicensed bottles of liquor
Indonesian police destroyed thousands of bottles of alcoholic beverages of various well-known brands by crushing them with a steamroller.
Footage filmed in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra province on July 8, shows police officers collecting hundreds of black plastic-wrapped boxes containing thousands of bottles of liquor.
Then, all drinks containing more than 40 percent alcohol were rolled with a roller.
The deputy head of the Bukittinggi resort police, Commissioner Sukur Hendri, said alcoholic beverages were caught in the form of expedition packages that were deliberately packaged to trick the police.
"It was brought from Batam to Bukittinggi and will be sent to Jakarta. We arrested it after receiving information from the public," Police Commissioner Hendri said.
According to Hendri, all the evidence that was destroyed amounted to 2,160 bottles from 180 cartons containing 12 bottles each. The total value or price is around 300 million rupiah.
Earlier in late January, the police arrested a truck that had stopped by the side of the road and found the truck carrying hundreds of boxes of liquor without an official document.
According to the laws and regulations in Indonesia, the circulation of beverages containing high alcohol must have a permit from the authorities. Violators can be sentenced to 2 years in prison or a fine of 50 million rupiah.
