Buy video

A large storm complex moving south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA produced these spectacular mammatus clouds that turned a brilliant orange in the sunset light. These clouds form beneath the cloud canopy that spreads out from severe storms. This video was taken at Moraine State Park looking south toward Pittsburgh. Mammatus displays like this are more common with summer storms across the Great Plains and Midwest but not so much in the Northeast.
