Indonesian farmers have a unique, easy and effective way to shell corn kernels, by using a motorcycle tire rotation.

Footage filmed in Agam, West Sumatra province on July 7, shows farmers separating corn kernels from the cob using a motor tire loop.

The head of the Koto Tinggi Agro Farmer's Group, Chaniago Budi, said this technique had been carried out in 2 harvests. "Using this method is easier and cheaper with more yields, which is up to 1 ton compared to manual use with a yield of only 100 kg a day," Budi added.

Starting with starting the engine, then holding the acceleration lever so that the wheels keep turning fast. Then, the corn is attached to the wheel so that the corn kernels are released from the cob.

So that the corn seeds are not scattered, this technique is carried out in a closed room.

But, even though it's easy, farmers still expect more appropriate tools from the government, as with this technique the exhaust gas from the motor is at risk.
