The development of technology that is already quite advanced makes children's interest in traditional games begin to disappear. Even though there are many traditional games that are very interesting and exciting when played together. One of them is kite.
The societies in Kubu Gadang, Padang Panjang district, West Sumatera Province, Indonesia try to revive one of this traditional game. They made The kite festival (minangkabau traditional based) called adaik baradaik on Sunday, September 20 – October 11 2022.
Perhaps, every region in the world has its own kite, but in Minangkabau people have many philosophies, those are:
First, starting from looking for bamboo to making kites, choose older bamboo, in one bamboo clump, the tallest and straightest. Before the bamboo is cut into pieces, the bamboo is cut and divided into small pieces, the bamboo is soaked first, and dried for a period of months, so will be perfect and strong. The selection of bamboo to the manufacture of kites is indeed required patience. The philosophy, we are taught to live patiently and strongly. Likewise, choosing leaders in minangkabau, we are taught to be really careful, and carefully see who deserves to be the leader later.
Second, scoops the bamboo that has been divided, scoops it into a kite frame according to the glider. The process of scooping requires accuracy and care in order to get better results. if people say use feel. The philosophy is, if we want something to try well, be careful in stepping, effort will not betray the results. Not only must you have a clear vision of the work, but also imagine the process of the work done and what results will be obtained.
