The owner of a jewellery shop in southern China overpowered a man trying to rob the store with a knife.

Video filmed in the city of Zhangzhou in Fujian Province on July 6 shows a man pretending to pay for a piece of jewellery suddenly taking out a knife and pointing it at the shop owner.

The shop owner grabbed the man's hand and wrestled him to the ground while his wife ran for help.

A man then came into the shop with a stick and used it to hit the robber repeatedly and another man helped take the knife away.

After the police officers arrived, they took the robber away.

The owner’s hand was reportedly cut by the knife but the shop did not suffer any losses.

7月6日17时5分，福建漳州一家金店内，一名身穿黑衣头戴鸭舌帽的男子，假装买金饰，付款时突然抽出一把刀举向店内一名男子，不料被对方一把抓过手摁住。黑衣男子被摁到柜台边时，仍未放下刀。店内一名女子跑出去大喊“抢劫、抢劫”，并喊话黑衣男子“快放下（刀），我要报110”。
店方男子一边控制黑衣男子一边喝令他“放下匕首”，并喊话让其他人快走、关门。女子呼救后折返，上手抢夺黑衣男子手中的刀。三人僵持中，一名持棍男子赶来，用棍子敲击黑衣男子，随后，又有一名男子赶来帮忙从黑衣男子手中夺刀。
女店主表示，被男子持刀袭击的是自己的丈夫，后来持刀抢劫的男子被及时赶到的警方带走，店里没有遭受损失。但在摁住抢劫男子的过程中，其丈夫的手被刀划伤，她自己并未受伤。
9日，福建漳州市芗城区公安分局刑侦大队一名工作人员介绍，涉事嫌疑人事发当天已被警方控制，目前已被拘留。事发时，金店店主在控制嫌疑人时手部被刀割了个小伤口，目前身体无大碍，其他人员没有受伤。（视频由福建台提供）
