Rescue team saves child, 7, who fell into 50ft-deep well in Indonesia
A rescue team saved a child who fell into a 50ft-deep well in Indonesia.
The volunteers were called when the seven-year-old girl named Khumaira Indi fell down the hole while fetching water in West Java province on July 7.
They set up a pulley on top of the well before a brave rescuer volunteered to climb down the dark well.
Footage shows a rescuer on harness descending down the hole. Another clip showed the volunteer emerging with the child as his colleagues pulled them up.
Bogor Regency Fire Department officer Arman Riyanto said: ‘The child was about to fetch water for their evening prayers with family.
‘The room was dark so she stepped on the well's cover but it broke and she fell to the bototm.'
The girl was discovered by shocked parents as she screamed for help from the dark hole.
Officer Arman added: ‘The family then reported to us. A team of officers were dispatched to the location to help and evacuate.'
Rescue workers then carried out the rescue operation.
One of the rescue teams descended to the bottom of the well using a rope and pulled out after 40 minutes.
The girl was given first first aid treatments for her bumps and scratches but she was generally unharmed from the incident.
