Motorcycle rider rescued after falling into 25ft deep pit in Thailand
A motorcycle rider was rescued after falling into a 25ft-deep pit in Thailand.
The unidentified 40-year-old rider reportedly crashed through barriers at a road construction site in Samut Prakan province on July 6.
His scooter fell with him down the wet pit that holds underground electric cables.
Workers called the rescuers for help who climbed down the hole and successfully pulled the rider up using a crane.
A rescue volunteer from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation said: ‘He could have drowned in the water but he fell on top of scaffolding with his motorcycle.'
Rescuers fixed a stretcher on a crane which was lowered down the hole where they held the rider up. He was transferred to a hospital afterwards. He is now in stable condition.
Police are now interviewing witnesses and checking the CCTV in the area to find out whether there was negligence in the part of the construction site contractors.
