Thai man finishes 2kg of Japanese curry in under two minutes

Footage shows how a Thai man ate 2kgs of Japanese curry in just one minute and 53 seconds.

Vorachai Wijitwongcharoen broke the national record by finishing the entire plate of food at the Gold Curry restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the video, Vorachai first started with the meat before demolishing the rest of the dish with a spoon. He shovelled the rice into his mouth while being carefully watched by an adjudicator.

Vorachai said: 'I'm happy I broke the national record and became the quickest curry eater in the country. I went from taking almost six minutes to finish the dish to doing it in under two minutes.

'I'll need to wait for a couple of weeks before I'm ready for another challenge, but I look forward to breaking my own record and eating even bigger dishes.'

The gold curry restaurant challenge allows customers to eat the giant dishes for free if they manage to finish everything within the stipulated time.

The 2kg plate of curry costs 699 Baht (16.16 GBP)but if the customer can finish it within 15 minutes, the dish is free.

The 4kg Japanese curry priced at 1,299 Baht (30.03 GBP) has to be finished within 30 minutes to be free. Customers also receive a voucher for 30 free plates of curry.
