This is the moment flash floods swamped homes amid heavy rains in northeast Thailand.

A village was submerged in a muddy ankle-deep deluge after a monsoon storm dumped heavy rains in Nakhon Ratchasima province on July 10.

Residents had to salvage their valuables on top of platforms while motorists were stranded across flooded roads.

Local officers rushed to the area to install a pump and clear the area of floodwater.

An officer said: ‘A tunnel was also flooded during the heavy rain. The pump was not working at first. A car was stuck because of that but no one was hurt.'

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
