The Nagpur-Bhopal National Highway 69 was closed down after a river overflowed in central India's Madhya Pradesh area.

The incident happened in Shahpur town of Betul district on July 12.

Visuals showed water gushing through the Machna river which was in spate. A large crowd had gathered at the spot. With the river overflowing and its water coming up on the road, there was a lot of traffic on both sides.

It was learnt that the river overflowed due to incessant rain all night long. The Betul-Indore road was also blocked for some time due to the water coming over the Machna river bridge at Karbala Ghat near Betul town.

A flooding situation has also arisen in the Ghoradongri development block. The police have deployed forces in this and the Karbala Ghat area. The authorities have appealed to the people to stop them from commuting in the flooded paths.
