A pregnant python was found curled up inside a car's engine with her eggs.

The serpent slithered inside the sedan as she was looking for a place to lay her eggs in Rayong province, Thailand on July 10.

She was only discovered hiding inside the vehicle when mechanics took the car for an inspection.

Animal rescuers were called on the scene and found she had already laid two eggs inside the car.

Shocked car owner Thanawut said: ‘I left my car at the garage and went out. After about 20 minutes, the garage worker called me and told me that there was a big python in my car's engine so I rushed back to the garage.'

The snake catchers used a long pole to pull the snake out of the engine. Volunteers took her inside a sack and kept her eggs in a separate bag.

Relieved driver Thanawut said that he didn't know how the snake entered his car.

He added: ‘I'm not sure where it was from. It might have slithered inside before I arrived here.'

The snake was taken to an animal shelter with her eggs until she could be released back to nature.

Thailand is home to three species of python, one of which is the reticulated python considered to be the longest snake in the world. In 2021, a farmer in Chon Buri province came across a massive 20ft-long python that required eight rescuers to pull from the fields.
