Shocked customers fled as an alleged gangster ambushed a customer at a McDonald's branch in Thailand.

The alleged victim seen in the video, Bas, 18, visited the fast-food chain for lunch after delivering shoes in Nonthaburi province on July 11.

While waiting for his burger and fries, two men parked a motorcycle outside the store and ambushed him with a handgun.

McDonald's CCTV footage shows the gunman pulling a pistol and firing it towards Bas.

A spokesman for the Bang Yai district police station said: ‘We inspected the area and found a bullet hole. From the video, we saw that the handgun was a pistol but the type was still unknown and appeared to be homemade.'

The customer had been inside the fast-food restaurant for 20 minutes when the gunman and his companion arrived on a two-wheeler.

Other diners, mostly students, fled the scene after sensing the commotion and hearing the loud bang.

No one was injured from the incident as the gunshot landed on the restaurant's bathroom tile.

Police are still searching for the gunman and his companion while Bas was taken into custody to be interviewed as part of the police probe.
