Sparks flew out after a crane hit high-voltage power lines during construction work in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Chaozhou in Guangdong Province on July 14 shows sparks suddenly flying out of the high-voltage power lines with a loud explosion sound.

Another clip shows smoke and flames coming out of the wheel of a crane.

According to a local official, the jib arm of a crane hit the high-voltage power lines, causing the wheel of the vehicle to explode and burst into flames when it dangled a section of gas pipeline to do some construction work.

Firefighters put out the fire and stayed on site until the power company cut off the electricity.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
