A snake bit two chickens to death after sneaking into a house in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened at the Bhaisma village in the Korba district on July 14.

Visuals showed snake catcher Jitendra Sarathi grabbing hold of the long snake by its tail. The reptile had its hood up and was ready to strike. The two dead chickens lay on the ground and their bodies had become stiff. It was learnt that the owner of this house Sunil Kumar found two of his chickens lying stiff on the ground, having fallen from their nests. Kumar, who owns a poultry farm, also spotted the snake in a hole at a distance and he didn't take much time to realise what had happened.

Without killing the reptile, he called for snake catcher Jitendra Sarathi and his team. They arrived after a while and started digging up the hole where the snake was seen.

Not being able to retrieve it, they poured water into the hole and after an hour, the reptile came out. They were thus able to capture the reptile, and put it inside of a bottle.

The snake had consumed two eggs before entering the hole and had spoiled 23 of them, all of which had to be thrown out. The water used to pour into the hole to take the snake out, spread in the house making the rescue operation more difficult.
