A snake was rescued after it killed a pigeon upon entering a house in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened at the house of Nagendra Singh in the Korba district of the state on July 14.

Visuals showed the reptile being pulled out of one of the pots where the pigeons stayed. The rescuer carefully took it out of the pot with his hands and a stick and then placed it on the ground. He even had one of his helpers fetch him a dead pigeon which he kept beside the snake.

It was later learnt that the rescued reptile was a venomous cobra. It was hanging from one of the pigeon pots and the owner of the house alerted of its presence after the birds made noise, crumbling with fear of the reptile.

The incident was reported to the forest department and the venomous snake was released into a nearby forest.
