Anti-junta forces destroyed cases of beer believed to be owned by the Burmese military at a checkpoint in Myanmar.

Members of the Tamu People's Defense Force spotted the products while screening cargo deliveries in the Tamu township of the Sagaing region on July 15. They disposed of the items by driving over the crates with a truck.

Similar incidents have occurred in Shan State and the Magway region.

Anti-army activists have reportedly been boycotting military-linked or owned products and services since the junta's coup believing this would hamper efforts to impose military rule.

The struggle between armed militias and the Burmese military has intensified amid the political turmoil in Myanmar caused by the ousting of well-liked former leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate has been held under house arrest and in jail ever since.
