Extreme campers take over Cornwall's coastline – sleeping rough on CLIFF EDGES Part 2
As the heatwave rages on, Cornwall is being taken over by extreme campers sleeping rough at dangerous heights – just inches from steep cliff sides.
In the past week, daredevils trying to avoid rising costs at popular British summer destinations have been pitching up tents across the coastline.
Shocking photos taken at Towan beach, Newquay, on 4 July reveals one camping spot sitting right above the water's edge.
The set-up is pretty impressive with not just a tent but four camping chairs, a BBQ, solar panels, lights and even a washing line.
The group has since moved on, likely having been discovered by the coastguard, as signs are set up warning people from camping in the area.
Elsewhere, on Pentire Point, on 9 July other tents were found sitting extremely close to the cliff edge.
A photo shows the tent sat on the side of a hill with another, smaller structure, which could be an oversized container, hanging from it on what appears to be a very thin rope.
Another image shows a somewhat more sensible camper (depending on your definition of sensible) still near the cliff edge but on a more stable, flat surface.
With the UK set to rise in temperature over the coming weekend, with evening's anticipated to be at a roasting degree as well, it's likely even more holiday-goers will try extreme camping.
