As Wales records its hottest day on record at 37.1C in Hawarden, just a short distance along the Welsh coast the beach is packed with families out enjoying the sun.

Despite official warnings to stay indoors, hundreds spent the hottest part of the day basking in the heat on Colwyn Bay beach, surrounded by BBQs, beach umbrellas and paddleboards.

This aerial footage is a mix of panning and static shots along the beach just after high tide, along with a top-down view of beachgoers running down to cool off splashing in the water.

Filmed at 16:00 on 18th July, exactly the same time as the record breaking temperature was recorded nearby in Hawarden.
