Mesmerising solar halo rainbow appears in clear skies over the Philippines
A mesmerising solar halo rainbow appeared in clear skies over the Philippines.
The colourful ring encircled the sun shining high above the town of Rosario in Cavite province on July 13.
Scientists believe haloes are formed when ice crystals from high cirrus clouds reflect sunlight or moonlight. They are sometimes called 22-degree haloes because the radius of the ring is roughly 22 degrees.
The halo's size differs depending on the angle of reflection.
