People continued to perilously cross a culvert despite water flowing ferociously on it in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident happened when the Wardha river overflowed due to the heavy rain in Betul district on July 18.

Visuals showed people crossing the culvert even as water continued to flow at a decent force across it. They were seen walking slowly and in groups to maintain balance while treading through the slippery path. One of them also used a stick to walk on this road.

It was learnt that heavy rainfall led to the river overflowing, resulting in this situation. The people along with some school children also crossed this dangerous path. A drunk person also somehow managed to reach the shore after ending up in the middle of the culvert.

Surprisingly, the authorities have not installed any barrier and neither did they have someone guard this place, to prevent people from walking across this dangerous path. Some one is deployed every year but this time, no one was present.

Simala Prasad, the Superintendent of Police in Betul said that the police and the administration have appealed to the people not to cross the bridge when water flowed over it.

She also said that police would deployed at such spots to monitor this situation.
