Tourists watch in shock as black bear bites trainer during performance in China
An Asian black bear bit a trainer during a performance in northern China.
Video filmed in the city of Shuozhou in Shanxi Province on July 16 shows an Asian black bear suddenly attacking its trainer after he patted the animal's head.
Footage shows a group of kids just behind the trainer and the bear as the incident happened.
An employee of the scenic spot said to Shanxi Television that the Asian black bear's mood was not stable as there were too many tourists.
The trainer had a vaccine after the incident and he was not injured seriously.
Netizens left comments such as "reject animal performances" on the Chinese social media platform Weibo to criticise the scenic spot for training bears.
The scenic spot has resumed normal performances and measures have been taken to limit the number of tourists.
