Stanley Johnson was heckled when talking about his son Boris at Boisdale Life Editor's Lunch and Awards in London on July 20.

Stanley attended the awards on the same day his son Boris Johnson, the prime minister, took part in his last Prime Minister's Questions as the leader of the Conservative party.

The PM's dad started his speech by saying: ""I'd much prefer it if the prime minister himself was here today, but he has had to have his last PMQs."

He then goes on to mention the mass resignations that led to Boris Johnson's demise: "Just think about this as though you were still writing books, what an extraordinary story it would be. The hidden hand who caused 50 ministers all of a sudden to say 'forget about the tory party rules to do with voting a new leader, we've got a wonderful new scheme for getting rid of a prime minister'.

"So I thought to myself 'well maybe there's a new novel let's call it summer madness or something like that'. How 50 people all of a sudden decided that we will change the course of history."

As he told the crowd his intentions to tell another joke about his son's rise to becoming the PM, members of the audience are heard shouting "get off" and "taxi for Stanley".
