A crowd of well-wishers gathered at the beach on 20 July to watch the release of a turtle rescued nine months ago.

On 15 October 2021, a sea turtle washed ashore in Goynuk, Turkey. It had been injured because of all the plastic it had eaten.

Fortunately, the reptile was rehabilitated by DEKAMER (Sea Turtles Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Center) with the support of the Lara Barut Collection.

It then had a satellite tracking device attached to its shell, for scientific research, and was released into the sea at 19:00 local time on 20 July.
