A group of women in Shanxi, northern China, enjoyed their square dancing enough to push three cars out of the way to make room for a 'dance floor'.

A passer-by filmed part of the incident.

The footage showed at least 10 middle-aged women gathered around a black car and pushing it about 20 feet from its original position,。
Locals said the women danced in the public space outside a metro station in Shaanxi province, northern China, every night.

When they arrived at the usual time on July 22, they discovered three vehicles parked on their 'dance floor'.

The women said they had called the owner of one of the cars, but he would not come to move it.

Undeterred, the group decided they would move it themselves, along with a small van and a white Toyota.

Once the vehicles were moved they did their dance routines in the space as normal, accompanied by music played on loud speakers.
Mr Zhao, a local shop owner, said: 'These ladies come here to dance every night, but this car occupied the space where these ladies dance.

'They tried to call the car owner but he was not there. Of course the ladies were going to move the car!'

In China, groups of 'damas', meaning older women, can often seen exercising by dancing in public squares and parks.

Earlier this year, Chinese authorities announced that square dancers will have to follow new guidelines after numerous disputes over noise and space.

The guidelines give suggestions about times when they can dance, the types of routines and the volume of music. Certain public spaces are also forbidden for square dancers.
