Roads inundated after tropical storm causes flash floods Bangkok, Thailand
Roads were inundated after a tropical storm caused flash floods in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday morning, July 21.
The tropical downpour battered the the capital city following a similar storm last night. Footage shows road users battling through the deluge.
Weather forecasters are predicting further rainstorms later in the evening. The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has also warned 32 provinces of possible flash flooding and runoff as the rain continues.
The Meteorological Department's forecast heavy rain until Sunday with Bangkok, the north and northeast of the country at greatest risk.
Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.
Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
