Ingenious trader struggling with high oil prices modifies motorcycle to carry more goods
An ingenious trader struggling with high oil prices modified his motorcycle to carry more goods so he can take fewer trips.
Taweechai Klinsawat, 41, used to carry up to 12 buckets of cooking oil in his motorbike's sidecar in Pattaya, Thailand.
However, the struggling vendor noticed that the high petrol prices almost wiped out his daily income so he fixed iron bars on his scooter's sidecar so he could carry up to ten times his normal delivery load.
Footage shows Taweechai fixing the 150 buckets to balance in the tall tower to deliver to customers.
He said: ‘I have been trading goods for 20 years. I take them from the market and deliver to other districts, which is about a 40 mile round trip.
‘The petrol prices eat up my income. I decided to modify my motorcycle.'
It was unclear whether the trader violates any road safety rules in Thailand, but onlookers were inspired of the man's ingenuity.
Oil consumers have been grappling with skyrocketing gas prices internationally which some have attributed to the pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
