Nag Panchami falls in July or August and is celebrated by thousands of people across India. During Nag Panchami, snakes are worshiped and offered milk, sweets, and flowers.

Hundreds of local devotees collect snakes and carry them over to a local river during a mass procession. The snakes are initially released into the water and then taken out by a priest, who fishes them using his mouth.

The snakes are then taken to a nearby temple, fed with milk, and then finally released back into the wild. The devotees hold up snakes in a bid to ward off evil and negate bad karma.

These snakes are caught two weeks beforehand to be paraded, as a part of the festivities. These snakes are pulled out from snake holes using sticks and kept in pots ahead of the procession.

This footage was captured on July 18, 2022.
