A huge python was captured after entering a family's yard and giving them a fright in Indonesia.

The gigantic creature was found curled up along a small gap in the home's concrete wall in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan on Thursday, July 21.

The terrified homeowner called firefighters after stumbling upon the serpent in the property.

Irwan, Tarakan City Fire and Rescue Section Head, said: 'When we arrived, the big snake was hiding in a narrow gap in the wall.'

The officers had to ask permission from the landlord to demolish a chunk of the wall, allowing them to better reach the python that was crammed in the crevice.

It took a group of five rescuers to drag the snake out due to its massive size. It reportedly measured around 11.4 feet long, weighed 25 kilograms, and had a diametre of roughly 8 inches.

Irwan said: 'The evacuation process took about 40 minutes. We will release this large snake in a protected forest area.'
