Romantic moment ruined as man drops ring in MANURE during proposal
A romantic man blundered as he proposed to his missus in a fairytale location - after dropping the ring in horse manure
Lewis Paterson got down on one knee to ask lover Nicola Bolton to marry him in Château de Castelnaud over-looking the river Dordogne, south of France.
It is where her favourite Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast" was set.
But as he flipped open the lid of the box, the sparkler fell into horse poo and hay by the side of the road.
The couple, of Wigan, Greater Manchester - who have been together for three years - were then left scrambling trying to find it in the muck.
They eventually found it and she agreed to wed him despite the bungle.
Surveyor Lewis, 30, joked: “She said yes.
“Right after I dropped the ring in a pile of stable hay and horse s**t.
“It was never going to go to plan with me at the wheel.”
Lewis popped the question properly when midwife Nicola spotted it and he then retrieved it.
“We couldn’t believe it,” he added.
“She saw the funny side of it luckily and we both haven’t stopped laughing.”
“At least I got to propose to my princess in her 'Beauty and the Beast' village.”
Lewis added: “We are planning on going back there to get married.”
