Officials raid, destroy illicit liquor worth USD 28,904.60 in southern India

Police officers and officers of the Special Enforcement Bureau raided and destroyed illicit liquor of around 3847.66 litres worth USD 28,904.60 in southern India's Andhra Pradesh.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Tetagunta village in the Kakinada district on July 22.

Visuals showed the liquor bottles arranged across a straight path. A bulldozer was run over it to ensure that everything was crushed and the alcohol spilled out.

This operation was conducted on the directives given by o Shri K.V.Rajendranath Reddy, IPS and Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh and Shri A. Ravishankar, IPS, Commissioner, Special Enforcement Bureau.

These 3847.66 litres of liquor was seized in 11 cases.

The police also said that they are taking measures to prevent the production of illegal liquor. It was also learnt that the villages have been segregated as A, B and C zones and police would conduct such operations accordingly.

Also, they said that efforts were being made to provide employment opportunities to the youth and that awareness seminars would be created.
