Fisherman rescues dolphin caught in tyre hanging from boat in the Philippines
A fisherman rescued a dolphin that was caught in tyre hanging from a boat.
Footage shows the trawler cruising through the water while pulling the marine creature off the coast of Tawi-Tawi on June 29.
The dolphin was unhurt and swam back to the depths after being removed from the wheels.
Fisherman Orlie Guinares said: ‘We noticed the dolphin while searching for tuna off the coast. My colleague then jumped into the water to remove it.
‘The dolphin might have been looking for fish to eat around our boat when it swam too close and was caught.'
Bycatch and injuries from fishing boats are some of the biggest threats facing marine life and the oceans in general.
