A pilot made an emotional inflight announcement thanking his parents and wishing his brother happy birthday.

Captain Genesis Bernardo prepared the sweet message when he discovered his parents were on board the AirAsia flight from Manila, the Philippines to Taipei, Taiwan.

With the help of his brother, Captain Genesis touched hearts when he thanked his parents during the flight's safety briefing before takeoff.

Footage shows the confused elderly couple Paul and Solly listening to the pilot before turning emotional when they finally realised it was their son speaking on the Airbus A320.

In the video, the pilot of 11 years could be heard speaking through the PA system: ‘After so many years of flying in the airline, I have always dreamed of having you on board as my passengers.'

The loving son then thanked his parents for ‘loving him unconditionally.'

He said: ‘I would like to thank you for loving me unconditionally as your son, and for teaching me to do my best in everything that I do. I also thank you for inspiring me to never stop dreaming big and making me believe that everything is possible as long as you have faith.'

Captain Genesis added: ‘You are one of the biggest reasons why I am here commanding a flight and flying this airplane.

‘It's truly an honour and my pleasure to have you on board. I am so proud of you for bringing me where I am right now, and I hope, I also make you proud.'

The passengers applauded at the end of his message while his parents were left speechless and teary-eyed from the unexpected announcement.

Upon landing in Taipei, the family had a short reunion, where his parents and brother Joshua had a vacation.
