Terrified housewife catches large monitor lizard hiding in her garden
A terrified housewife caught a large monitor lizard hiding in her garden.
Jum Chungchung was watering her plants when she noticed the wild reptile rustling among the leaves in Surat Thani province, Thailand on July 26.
She shouted for her family's help inside the house and together, they drove the creature out of the house.
Footage shows the housewife dragging the lizard out of the property through a rope tied around its neck.
The housewife said: ‘We've been seeing this creature coming and going since last week. When we finally caught it, we took it out and released it to the swamp nearby where it might have come from.'
The family members used poles and rope to create a makeshift lizard catcher which they used to chase the creature out of the garden.
It was then released to the swamp nearby unhurt.
Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.
The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria.
The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
