Twelve-year-old girl fell in 400-feet deep borewell in western India, rescued

A 12-year-old girl who fell into a borewell at a village in western India's Gujarat has been rescued.

The incident took place in Gajanvav village, Surendranagar district on July 29.

Visuals showed an official lighting a torch in the borewell to have a look at the condition. A large group of officials were seen pulling a rope to bring out the girl after which the locals around started to clap.

After the rescue, the victim was put on the stretcher.

"An army team has arrived and efforts are underway to rescue the girl. She belongs to a family of migrant farm labourers,” mamlatdar of Dhrangadhra taluka, Shobhana Faldu, said.

City mamlatdar Nilesh Parmar said that apart from the army personnel, a team of the National Disaster Response Force had been called in for the rescue operation.

According to reports, the name of the victim is Manisha, daughter of Arjunbhai, a resident of Panchmahal.
