East Calder pickup truck driver makes emergency stop at pedestrian crossing because his girlfriend wanted a bacon roll
The driver of a pick up truck in East Calder decided it was too inconvenient to find a suitable place to park to let his other half go shopping. So instead, he took it on himself to park on the marked zig zag lines at a pedestrian crossing, clearly in breach of rule 240 of the highway code, limiting vision of both anyone who wanted to use the crossing as well as other road users. His passenger could be seen coming out of the local Scotmid with rollers in her hair after purchasing an item from the bakery section. Clearly her convenience was a higher priority than the safety of other road users. Indeed cars were left waiting behind the offending vehicle as they struggled to get past. Luckily, no pedestrians were waiting to use the crossing and the poor passenger didn't have to walk too far so she get home to finish her hair and enjoy her bacon roll before it got cold!
