Russia pummelled the strategic southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv on Sunday (July 31), killing a leading businessman.

Oleksiy Vadatursky, 74, and his wife Raisa died when a missile hit their home overnight, Ukrainian media said. Vadatursky owned Nibulon, a group involved in grain exports.

Video filmed on Sunday provided with permission from the State Emergency Service shows responders attending a blaze in Mykolaiv.

Mykolaiv mayor Oleksandr Senkevych said Sunday’s barrage was likely the heaviest Russian bombardment of the city so far. A hotel, a sports complex, two schools and a service station as well as some homes were reportedly damaged.
