Dozens of clay pots storing cherries were washed away by flash floods following heavy rain in Myanmar.

Footage shows the containers floating in the water after storms battered the town of Pyin Oo Lwin in the Mandalay region on August 1.

A section of the flood was stained red as the torrents destroyed the pots and crushed the fruits, spilling their juices out onto the street.

Resident Tr Cham said: 'In my 25 years of living here, this is the first time Pyin Oo Iwin has been facing this kind of flood.'

Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until late November.

High humidity levels and soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
