Pizzeria owner worried by his shop's 'extremely hot' floor finds steam vent under the tiles
A pizzeria owner who was concerend about his shop's 'extremely hot' floor was shocked after opening up the tiles and finding a steam vent.
The proprietor said he was worried by the bouts of intense heat suddenly emanating from the floors and walls of his fast food outlet in the Tachileik Township, Myanmar.
Desperate to find the cause of the unstable temperature changes, he dug up the ground beneath the tiles and discovered a small hole through which a column of steam was escaping.
Footage from July 27 shows what appears to be water boiling in the tiny but deep opening while faint wisps of steam can be seen wafting up from it.
An official from the Burmese Department of Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration arrived to inspect the finding.
The visiting researcher U Aung Kyaw Soe said: 'Earthquakes could be one of the reasons for this, since the rocks beneath the earth are heated by friction. Now, we have to dig down to a depth of seven or eight feet below the ground and send the soil to the laboratory for testing.'
The owner said he felt no sudden heating in the adjoining rooms.
The department has yet to release its report about the vent. The shop is continuing to operate with the unusual heat rising up from the depths.
